One Reason Why You Want To Be Friends With Jacques Pepin

The other night a friend of mine told me a story about a friend of her mother's and Jacques Pepin. 

This friend of her mother's is a longtime Boston food person, friends with Julia Child as well as M. Pepin.  A few years ago her life partner died.  After the funeral, late at night there's a knock at the door.  It's Jacques Pepin.  He's brought two bottles of champagne, two-hundred oysters and a guy to shuck them.
